Japanese Hand Massage

What is Japanese Hand Massage?

Japanese Hand Massage is actually more than just a hand massage - it is a stimulating and refreshing massage of the arms and hands using techniques taken from shiatsu and reflexology. You will experience massage techniques on the hands and arms incorporated with stretching and acupressure, and you will be surprised by the therapeutic effect these traditional techniques will have on you!

Shiatsu (shi, meaning finger, and atsu, meaning pressure) is a traditional Japanese healing art. Shiatsu can be beneficial for a wide range of conditions, helping specific injuries or generally improving your sense of wellbeing. The eastern philosophy is that vital energy (Qi in Chinese, Ki in Japanese) flows throughout the body in a series of paths or channels called meridians (also can be referred to as Sen lines). The techniques aim to clear and free up these energy pathways, calming an overactive nervous system, improving blood circulation, and may also help to reduce stress and ease joint stiffness and muscle aches.

Reflexology is the technique of applying pressure to the feet or hands using the thumb and fingers. It aims to bring about a state of deep relaxation, stimulate our own healing processes and help create a sense of well being. Reflexology works on the principle that there are reflex points on the feet that relate to every organ, gland and body part. It

Like the feet, the hands are one of the most overused parts of our body and in general taken for granted and neglected. You can expect a Japanese Hand Massage with Sarah to help you to de-stress, to open energy channels and to create a general sense of balance and well being, and of course, to leave your hands and arms feeling refreshed and free from tension.  A Japanese Hand Massage lasts 30 or 45 minutes, and you can also add a full length treatment or shorter 20 minute session to any other full length treatment* to enhance the relaxing, and balancing effects!
